49th All India Police Science Congress

  • The 49th All India Police Science Congress (AIPSC) organized by the Uttarakhand Police commenced recently, at the Forest Research Institute in Dehradun.
About AIPSC
  • The event which takes place every year, is being organized under the auspices of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D).
  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend as the Chief Guest while Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will be the Guest of Honor.
  • This year, the 49th AIPSC has selected six themes for discussion – Policing in the 5G Era, Narcotics: A Game-Changing Approach, Coordination between Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFS), National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Internal Security & Social Media Challenges, and Community Policing.
  • The congress will also have discussions on the Action Taken Report (ATR) of the 48th AIPSC.
  • The congress will conclude with an open discussion on the relevant themes, and resolutions will be passed for the 49th AIPSC, serving as guiding points for policing.
  • The 49th AIPSC is utilizing technology for its management, having created an event invitation management system for the Uttarakhand Police. Several security measures have been implemented to ensure the security and confidentiality of event data.
  • To showcase modern technology and innovations in policing, a technical exhibition will run concurrently during the congress. This exhibition will feature 30 stalls displaying state-of-the-art equipment aimed at enhancing law enforcement capabilities.

  • The BPR&D was established in New Delhi in 1970 to assist all police agencies in improving their fundamental structures, human resources, and processes.
  • As part of its annual activities, BPR&D organizes such congresses to provide a platform for police officers of all ranks, technical experts, and forensic specialists to actively participate and contribute to discussions.
