79% drop in BJP donations, still on top, this time Rs 752.337 crore

In News 
  • The donations of all political parties including BJP have decreased in the financial year 2020-21 during the Corona period. There has been a decrease of 79.24% in donations to the BJP as compared to the last financial year.
Major Findings of the report 
  • The report has been prepared on the basis of assessment of audit reports submitted by political parties to the Election Commission.
  • Congress is second with 58.11% less donations. He has given details of 285.765 crores in 2020-21. CPI(M) donations have increased by more than seven per cent.
  • BJP, Congress, CPI(M), NCP, BSP, Trinamool Congress, CPI and NPEP have announced a donation of 1373,783 crores.
  • BJP spent 620.398 crore, which is 82.46% of the total donation amount. Congress spent 209 crores, which is 73.14%.
  • Trinamool Congress spent 78.52% of the Rs 74.417 crore donation.
  • There has been a decrease of 2870.943 crore in 2020-21 in comparison to 2019-20 in BJP's donations.
  • The party had announced donations of Rs 3623.28 crore in the last financial year, which has come down to Rs 752.337.
  • At the same time, there has been a decrease of 58.1 percent i.e. 396.445 crores in Congress donations.
  • Congress collected Rs 156.907 crore from maximum coupons. This is 54.91 per cent of the party's total donations.
