Ashishkumar Chauhan set to become NSE MD, CEO

In News 
  • The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has approved the appointment of Ashishkumar Chauhan as the next Managing Director and CEO of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the country’s largest stock exchange.
About Ashish kumar Chauhan 
  • Chauhan is currently the MD and CEO of the BSE and his tenure will end in November this year.  He will join in place of Vikram Limaye whose five-year tenure ended on July 15.
  • Chauhan is one of the founders of the NSE where he worked from 1992 to 2000.
  • At the NSE, he was involved in setting up India’s first fully automated screen-based trading system and first commercial satellite communications network.
  • Ashish Kumar Chauhan is alumnus of IIT and IIM.
  • His career started at IDBI Bank, before he moved to NSE. He worked in developing derivatives segment at the NSE, during 1993-2000.
About NSE 
  • NSE is the leading stock exchange in India, headquartered in Mumbai.
  • In 2021, it became the largest derivatives exchange of the world in terms of number of contracts traded.
  • In terms of cash equities, NSE is ranked at 4th position. NSE was set up in 1992.
