In News

One Planet Summit
  • India joined the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People, which was initiated at the “One Planet Summit” in Paris in January 2021, which aims to promote an international agreement to protect at least 30% of the world's land and ocean by 2030.
Clean Sea Campaign
  • UN Environment (UNEP) launched Clean Seas in February 2017, with the aim of engaging governments, the general public and the private sector in the fight against marine plastic pollution.
  • Over the next five years, we will address the root-cause of marine litter by targeting the production and consumption of non-recoverable and single-use plastic.
  • To do this effectively, we need citizens to be aware, engaged and active in addressing the problem in their daily lives and beyond.
  • India has proposed to establish Sustainable Coastal and Ocean Research Institute (SCORI) to meet the needs and aspirations of the Pacific Island Countries (PIC).
