Converting paddy stubble into bio-manure

In news

Steps taken by the Government for awareness about the new low-cost capsule which can convert the paddy stubble into bio-manure.

Details
  • Government provides capsule kits to the farmers of 25 states during 2020-21.
  • IARI has licensed the technology to 12 companies for mass multiplication and marketing of the Pusa Decomposer.
About the decomposer
  • The decomposers are in the form of capsules made by extracting fungi strains that help the paddy straw to decompose at a much faster rate than usual.
  • .It takes around 20 days for the degradation process to be completed
  • This would then rule out the need to burn the stubble, and also help in retaining the essential microbes and nutrients in soil that are otherwise damaged when the residue is burned.
