About Green War Room
  • Launched in 2020, the Green War Room has state-of-the-art air quality monitoring equipment and a team of experts, including scientists and data analysts, which keeps an eye on all sources contributing to Delhi's air pollution and helps the city administration implement its action plan.
  • The people can report air pollution-related complaints to the Green War Room through the Green Delhi mobile application.
  • The war room team then forwards these complaints to the relevant department for resolution.
  • The ‘green war room’ is managed by a 17-member team consisting of scientists and engineers.
  • It acts as a unified platform, connecting 28 government departments, and allows citizens to report pollution-related complaints through the Green Delhi app.
  • Complaints received on the app are jointly reviewed by all relevant departments, including those from the central government, Delhi government, and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
Pollution in Delhi
  • A report from the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) indicates that 31% of pollution sources are internal (within Delhi), while 69% are external (from surrounding states).
  • Vehicles have been identified as a major real-time pollution source, particularly contributing to particulate pollution in Delhi.
  • The report highlighted that despite relatively low air pollution levels in winter 2022, Delhi remained the most polluted among five major cities in the national capital region.
  • Large-scale air quality monitoring commenced in Delhi in 2018, providing valuable data on air quality.
