  •  Interpol has rejected India’s request to issue a Red Corner Notice (RCN) on terror charges against Canada-based Khalistan separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
INTERPOL 
  • INTERPOL known as the ‘International Criminal Police Organisation’, is an international organization and a UN agency that facilitates worldwide police cooperation and crime control. Headquartered in Lyon, France.
  • It was Formed in 1923.
  • India has been a member since - India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), is the national coordinating agency with INTERPOL.

RED NOTICE 
  • It is a request to locate and provisionally arrest individual pending extradition.
  • It is issued by the General Secretariat at the request of a member country or an international tribunal based on a valid national arrest warrant.
  • Apart from ‘red notice’, INTERPOL also issues 7 other notices i.e – Black notice, yellow notice etc.
