Isro PSLV-C56 launch

  • The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is in the final stage of preparation to launch its next big mission.
  • The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle will lift-off on its 56th mission to space, dubbed PSLV-C56.
PSLV-C56
  • The rocket will lift-off with seven payloads, with the primary mission, the DS-SAR satellite, being launched under a contract with the New Space India Limited (NSIL).
  • The PSLV-C56 will carry the DS-SAR satellite, along with six co-passengers, into a Near-equatorial Orbit (NEO) and deploy them at an altitude of 535 km.
  • The DS-SAR satellite, weighing 360 kg, is developed under a partnership between DSTA (representing the Government of Singapore) and ST Engineering.
  • DS-SAR will support the satellite imagery requirements of various agencies within the Singapore government. ST Engineering will use it for multi-modal and higher responsiveness imagery and geospatial services for their commercial customers.
  • The DS-SAR carries a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) payload developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), enabling all-weather day and night coverage and capable of imaging at 1m-resolution at full polarimetry.

  • Galassia-2, a 3U nanosatellite that will be orbiting at low earth orbit.
  • ORB-12 STRIDER, a satellite developed under international collaboration.
