PM inaugurates SemiconIndia 2023 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the second edition of Semicon India, with the 3-day event taking place in Gandhinagar, the capital of his native state Gujarat.
About Semicon India
  • The theme of the Conference is ‘Catalysing India’s Semiconductor Ecosystem’.
  • It aims to bring together global leaders from industry, academia and research institutions.
  • It showcases India’s semiconductor strategy and policy which envisions making India a global hub for semiconductor design, manufacturing and technology development.
  • SemiconIndia 2023 will witness the participation of representatives of major companies such as Micron Technology, Applied Materials, Foxconn, SEMI, Cadence, and AMD among others.
  • At present, India's electronics production has more than tripled to over 100 billion dollars, up from less than 30 billion dollars in 2014 when he began his first term.
  • The Gujarat government signed an memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth Rs 22,500 crore with semiconductor chip giant Micron Technology to establish an Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging (ATMP) facility in the state.
