PM unveils logo, theme and website of India’s G-20 Presidency

In News 
  • The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi unveiled the logo, theme and website of India’s G-20 Presidency via video conferencing recently.

  • Lotus: India’s national flower, Lotus having 7 petals, represent seven continents of the globe and also seven notes of music.
  • G20: It is the vibrant colours of India’s National Flag- Saffron, white and green.
  • Blue Earth: Represent India’s pro-planet approach to life, one in perfect harmony with nature.
G20 
  • The G20 was formed in 1999 in the backdrop of the financial crisis of the late 1990s that hit East Asia and Southeast Asia in particular.
  • The presidency rotates every year. 
  • It aims to secure global financial stability by involving middle-income countries.
  • Together, the G20 countries include 60 % of the world’s population, 80 % of global GDP, and 75 % of global trade.
  • Members- Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States and the EU.
  • Spain is invited as a permanent guest.
