Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan

In News 
  • Hon’ble President Smt. Droupadi Murmu will virtually launch the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan to reinvigorate the mission of TB elimination from the country by 2025.
  • Hon’ble President will also launch the Ni-kshay Mitra initiative which forms a vital component of the Abhiyaan. 
About the portal 
  •  The Ni-kshay Mitra  portal provides a platform for donors to provide various forms of support to those undergoing TB treatment.
  • The three pronged support includes nutritional, additional diagnostic, and vocational support.
  • The donors, called Ni-kshay Mitras, could be a wide range of stakeholders from elected representatives, political parties, to corporates, NGOs, and individuals.
TB Mukt Abhiyan 
  • India is committed to eliminating tuberculosis by 2025, five years ahead of the global target of 2030.
  • UTs of Lakshadweep and the district of Badgam in Jammu & Kashmir have been declared TB Free on World TB Day 2021.
  • It aims to direct the attention of all stakeholders on the most important interventions or activities that the RNTCP believes will bring about significant changes in the incidence, prevalence and mortality of TB.
  • It will guide the development of the national project implementation plan (PIP) and state PIPs, as well as district health action plans (DHAP) under the national health mission (NHM).
  • VISION: TB-Free India with zero deaths, disease and poverty due to tuberculosis
  • GOAL: To achieve a rapid decline in burden of TB, morbidity and mortality while working towards elimination of TB in India by 2025.
TB 
  • It is a contagious infection that usually attacks your lungs.
  • It can also spread to other parts of body such as brain and spine.
  • It is caused by a bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
  • It can spread from person to person through microscopic droplets released into the air.
