The union minister for Science and Technology presented an update on seven Science Technology Innovation hubs established for the socio-economic development of SC (Scheduled Caste) and ST (Scheduled Tribes) communities.

About STI hubs:

  • The STI hubs, established by the Department of Science and Technology, work towards providing training on skill development for capacity building of SC and ST populations in science and technology.
  • STI hubs have been set up in the eastern region of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Telangana, Hyderabad, Ladakh, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh and Meghalaya.
  • The STI Hubs will develop, nurture and ensure the delivery of appropriate and relevant technologies for inclusive socio-economic development through the creation of sustainable livelihoods for the SC & ST population in tune with their growing aspirations.
