  •  Siddharth Chatterjee, who rose to become the United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator for China, is currently leading the UN and its 26 agencies in China.
About Siddharth Chatterjee 
  • Chatterjee, whose early career was in the Indian Army, was decorated for gallantry by the President of India in 1995.
  • He holds a master's degree in public policy from Princeton University in the United States, and a bachelor's degree from the National Defence Academy in India.
  • A staunch advocate of gender equality and youth empowerment, Chatterjee has also served in Switzerland, Denmark, Iraq, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan (Darfur), Indonesia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iraqi Kurdistan.
About the UN Resident Coordinator (RC)
  • S/he is the highest-ranking representative of the UN Development System at the country level.
  • RCs lead UN Country Teams and coordinate UN support to countries in implementing the 2030 SDG Agenda.
  • The Resident Coordinator is the designated representative of and reports to the UN Secretary-General.
