Skye Air launches India’s first traffic management system for drones

  • Skye Air, a Gurugram-based drone solutions provider, recently launched traffic management system for drones in India.
Skye UTM
  • The air traffic management system designed by Skye air is called Skye UTM.
  • This is the first of its kind in India. UTM stands for Unmanned Traffic Management.
  • It will provide BVLOS drone operations.
  • BVLOS is Beyond Visual Line of Sight, meaning you can operate your drones safely to far away places without even seeing them physically.
  • The software will allow drone operators to plan routes, make flight plans and assess risks before running drone-based operations in the country.
  • The platform is run by DGCA, Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
  • The platform offers the first 3D view of the drone airspace, along with operations and regulations mapping servers which offer the latest airspace status, and verified paths, and display real-time UAV movements.
  • o far very few countries in the world have such drone traffic management systems.
  • For instance, the AirMap company in the US has this kind of traffic management system.
  • And also, the Airbus of Netherlands has designed such a system.
