  • Ministry of Education and World Bank organised a one of its kind workshop on School-to-Work Transition under the STARS Program in Mumbai.
About STARS Program
  • Strengthening Teaching-Learning and Results for States (STARS) Programme.
  • It will improve the quality and governance of school education in six Indian states of Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and Rajasthan through the Samagra Shiksha.
  • Around 250 million students (between the age of 6 and 17) in 1.5 million schools and over 10 million teachers will benefit from this USD 500 million programme.
  • It will strengthen public school education and support the country’s goal of providing ‘Education for All’, for which the Bank had provided total assistance of more than USD 3 billion prior to this plan as well.
  • STARS will help improve learning assessment systems, strengthen classroom instruction and remediation, facilitate school-to-work transition and strengthen governance and decentralized management.
  • STARS will support India’s renewed focus on addressing the learning outcome challenge and help students better prepare for the jobs of the future.
  • One of the key components of STARS program is strengthening of Vocational Education and School-to-Work Transition.
