  • The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) is gearing up for another commercial launch when it will carry the Singaporean Earth Observation satellite TeLEOS-02 on board the workhorse Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle.
About TeLEOS-02
  • TeLEOS 2 is an Earth observation satellite that weighs 750kg.
  • It has synthetic aperture radar technology that provides data at a resolution of 1 metre.
  • The satellite was transported from Singapore to India in February.
  • It was developed by ST Engineering.
  • TeLEOS 2 will provide imagery that can be used for various applications, such as:
  • Hotspot monitoring and haze management.
  • Aviation accidents and search and rescue operations.
  • ISRO has chosen to utilize the XL variant of the PSLV launcher for the upcoming C-55 mission.
  • This variant is a more powerful version of the PSLV and is capable of handling heavier payloads.
  • Its enhanced capabilities will enable the successful deployment of TeLEOS-2 into the desired orbit.
  • TeLEOS-2 will be able to provide all-weather day and night coverage, and capable of imaging at 1m full-polarimetric resolution.
LUMELITE-4
  • It has also been developed by Singapore and is an advanced 12U satellite designed for the technology demonstration of the High-Performance Space-borne VHF Data Exchange System (VDES).
  • It aims to augment Singapore’s e-navigation, maritime safety and benefit the global shipping community.
About PSLV
  • The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) is the first Indian launch vehicle with liquid stages.
  • The PSLV is called the 'the Workhorse of ISRO' as it has consistently delivered various satellites to Low Earth Orbits.
  • The rocket can carry up to 1,750 kg of payload to 600 km altitude.
  • It can also place multiple payloads into orbit with multi-payload adaptors.
