  • The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has extended his greetings on World Health Day and prayed for everyone's good health and wellness.

About WHD 
  • World Health Day is a global health awareness day celebrated every year on 7 April, under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as other related organizations.
  • In 1948, the WHO held the First World Health Assembly. The Assembly decided to celebrate 7 April of each year, with effect from 1950, as the World Health Day.
  • The first World Health Day was observed on 22 July but then the date was changed to the day of WHO's formation to encourage student participation.

Significance
  • World Health Day encourages discussion on health-related issues and actions on an international level as it is one of the major campaigns of the WHO.
  • WHO makes sure to choose a pressing health issue for every year's World Health Day theme so that people are updated and keep learning about the health crisis or problems the world is facing.
