Exporters are seeking greater clarity from the government on some grey areas in the scheme’s functioning.

About the scheme

WTO compliant scheme is for ‘
Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP)‘ to boost exports for enhancing Exports to International Markets.

Objective

To make Indian exports cost competitive and create a level playing field for exporters in International market

What is RoDTEP scheme

This scheme will reimburse taxes/duties/levies at the central, state and local level, which are currently not being refunded.

Grey areas

The consultancy flagged the power given to Customs officers to suspend the scrips or refund credits or even to bar exporters from utilising these scrips especially as the grounds on which such suspensions could be done have not been spelt out.
